Although Submariner lovers are divided between "date" and "no date," the historical significance of Ref. 1680 is undeniable.

Introduced in 1967, this reference represents the first evidence of Submariner with a date display.

The present example, made in 1970, belongs to the earliest versions and therefore features the rare and desirable red "Submariner" inscription, later replaced by the all-white graphics.
