A. Cairelli CP-2
From 1960s to 1970s the Italian Military Air Force (Areonautica Militare Italiana) commissioned Zenith to develop and produce a special watch for its members.
The watches were all sold by the Italian watch dealer A.Cairelli, based in Rome, and can be split in two different batches.
Despite all the watches were conceived for military purposes, some of them were sold by Cairelli to private customers.
The difference between military issued and “civilian” ones can be found on the case back, with the issue number engraved just for military ones.
The Zenith A.Cairelli CP-2 (cronometro da polso tipo 2) was a pilot watch featuring a chronograph with fly-back system, specially made for aviation purposes.
The present specimen is a civilian iteration and is preserved in astonishing shape.
The black dial shows no signs of ageing, as well as the bakelite bezel.
The movement is clean and is running smoothly.
The case still retains all correct shapes and the case back engravings are still sharp showing no signs of polishing.
