Introduced in 1978, six years after the 5402 hit the market, the Royal Oak 4100 is Audemars Piguet's first take on a scaled down version of its flagship watch. Just as harmonius and well proportioned as its bigger brother, the 4100 comfortably sits on the wrist with a 36mm diameter which guarantees an equally masculine, yet less imposing look.
The present example comes in a two-tone steel and yellow gold case, a combination of metals that arguably enhances the peculiar design of the watch, highlighting the construction of the integrated bracelet and the attractive, engineered shape of the iconic octagonal bezel.
Offered in pristine condition and as a full set, the present watch is a great opportunity to secure a piece from the early Royal Oak production: the growing interest - and rising prices - of early mid-size Royal Oaks shows how the interest of collectors over these pieces is growing by the day.
